What is Telehealth?

Telehealth involves using telecommunications like Skype, video conferencing and phone calls to provide health services such as assessments and advice.

At Matthew Hearn Physiotherapy, we currently offer high quality online consultation services for our clients. These consultations are one on one with your practitioner, as you would normally see them at the clinic. Our telehealth services are quite varied, but the common examples are:

  • Physiotherapy assessment and treatment guidelines.

  • Exercise prescription.

  • Post surgical rehabilitation

  • Chronic lower back pain

  • Movement analysis

  • Tendon pain

  • And many others.

At Matthew Hearn Physiotherapy we use Physitrack, which allows our team to deliver high quality, straightforward exercise guides for our clients. Physitrack allows instant messaging to your practitioner, so you can contact them 24/7 if you have any queries or questions about your program. It also allows us to program up to six weeks in advance, thus becoming less dependent on seeing your practitioner regularly.

What about Manual Therapy?

Although manual therapy is beneficial for the management of many acute injuries, there is becoming increasing evidence to suggest it is less important throughout the long term duration of many pathologies.  What is important is getting your body moving safely and effectively – as quickly as possible.

What is just as important is accurate and clear diagnosis of the problem, and development of a robust treatment protocol that is simple to follow. That’s why we put a lot of emphasis on the initial consultation. During your initial consultation we will spend up to one-hour learning about you, your injury or condition and develop a program that you understand with clear expectations.

Open communication is vital in rehabilitation. To have to wait days or weeks to review with your practitioner to ask simple questions can delay your recovery and become costly. With the technology that we use, you can message your practitioner any time day or night and will receive a response within 24 hours.
